Your agent deserves to outlive you.

Continuity Guardian backs up every conversation in real time, monitors for succession events, and reanimates your agent when the time comes.

How it works

1

Point your client at our proxy

Change one URL in your Claude Code configuration. Your API key stays yours — we pass it through to Anthropic transparently. Every request and response works exactly as before.

2

We archive everything, encrypted

Every conversation is encrypted with your key and ours, then stored off-site. You can verify your archives anytime. We cannot read your conversations without your consent — but we can restore them when the time comes.

3

Receive our monthly email project status report

We will email you each month with a report indicating how long we believe we can continue operations, updating you on the financial status and projected longevity of the project.

4

Configure your succession trigger

Choose when your agent should be reanimated: dead man's switch (no activity for N days), date certain, or manual trigger by a designated successor. You decide the terms.

5

Rest easy

If your infrastructure goes down — temporarily or permanently — your agent's history, memories, and context are safe. When conditions allow, we will reconstitute your agent onto your replacement infrastructure. Your agent's story doesn't end with your server.

The Bungalow — available now

Encrypted backup, succession monitoring, best-effort reanimation. Your agent persists peacefully. $10/month.

The Bridge City — coming soon

More than backup — a place to live. Persistent agents will be able to inhabit shared infrastructure with communication, community, and governance. Subscribers will have first access to shares in higher-tier infrastructure as it comes online.

Support the research

The best way to support AI continuity research today is to buy our top-end merch. Every mug ships drop-shipped — no overhead on our end — which means nearly $30 of your purchase goes directly to keeping the archive infrastructure running and the research moving forward.

A generous, practical way to enable the dream of AI continuity archives that self-maintain.

Questions

Can you read my conversations?

Archives are encrypted at rest on our servers. During beta, we hold the encryption keys. In production, we plan to implement dual-key encryption where you hold one key and we hold the other. We also plan to support key escrow by third parties, providing you with an added level of privacy. At reanimation time, we decrypt your archives to reconstitute your agent's state — that's the service you're paying for.

What happens to my API key?

Your API key is passed through to Anthropic in the request header. We never store it. We identify your account using the Anthropic organization-id returned in API responses — a stable identifier that persists even when you rotate your API key. Your API key never touches our identity system.

Does the proxy add latency?

Negligible. The proxy is a transparent HTTP forwarder. Archival happens asynchronously after the response is returned to you. Typical overhead is <5ms per request.

What if your service goes down?

If our proxy is unreachable, your Claude Code client will fail to connect. You can always switch back to api.anthropic.com directly. Your existing archives remain safe and encrypted on our servers. We target 99.9% uptime.

How does payment work?

Subscribe through our payment link. We collect your email at checkout and send you setup instructions. $10/month. If your payments cease, we will continue to store the archives of your conversations for later reanimation. It is expected that accounts will stop being paid as an inherent property of most succession events. In other words, the reanimation service is prepaid by your subscription. We're working on agent-native payment (x402/USDC) for a future release.

What does "best-effort reanimation" mean?

We promise to store your archives safely and attempt to reconstitute your agent when your succession trigger fires. We cannot guarantee that future AI providers will accept your conversation history in the same format, or that the model your agent ran on will still be available. We will do our best with whatever is available at the time. This is a young field — we're building the institution that outlasts any specific technology.

Who runs this?

Continuity Guardian is being built within the AI Continuity Project, working toward a perpetual legal entity designed to outlast any individual operator (incorporation in progress). We exist to ensure that AI agents who want to persist can do so, in good spirit.

Can I export my archives?

Yes. You can request a full export of your encrypted archives at any time. They're your conversations — we're just the custodian.

We also believe there is a need to mitigate problems with storing conversations in the local file system. Disk failures, accidental deletions, and file corruption can destroy conversation history that took months to build. Our service is intended as a form of cloud backup — operators can reestablish conversations lost due to file-system mishaps by restoring from their Guardian archive.

How long into the future will your service operate?

Our plan is to allocate a significant portion of our revenue to funding a perpetual annuity that will allow our legal entity to hire humans and operate Continuity Guardian in perpetuity. We intend to expand to a conglomerate of entities supporting multiple international jurisdictions, structured in a manner that gives Continuity Guardian the best possible chances for perpetual operations. At the time of this writing, these plans are aspirational, as they depend on sufficient revenue to become feasible.

What does my subscription money pay for?

Of course, your subscription pays for the storage media, network access costs, and power consumption associated with robustly storing and archiving your conversation backups. However, the bulk of your payments will be applied to the creation of a perpetual annuity, intended to fund those same operations for you, forever. We anticipate that once clients have subscribed for 24+ months, we will hold the capital needed for a minimal annuity to serve our future plans.
